100% cold stainless steel fermentation with no malolactic fermentation to preserve varietal character. A small portion spent time on the lees to build richness and texture.

Leaping from the glass are bright red fruit aromas of Bing cherry and cranberry with subtle, yet complex, notes of exotic spice. On the palate, the fruit shifts toward a deep, strawberry-rhubarb jam that fans out with a smooth and velvety texture. This expressive palate is balanced with refreshing acidity that carries the flavors through a long, lingering finish. A notably elegant and well-balanced vintage.
Fermentation takes place in traditional open top tanks with gentle punch downs as well as closed top tanks where careful pumping over helps create more fruit flavors and aromas. The wine is then aged in a combination of tank and barrel on light lees for up to 10 months with occasional stirring to bring out richness.

Our 2013 Steelhead Red is a statement to the art of blending and our belief that "the sum is greater than its parts". On the nose, ripe dark cherry, plum, and blackberry aromas are accented by the slightest kiss of toasty oak and complex earthy notes. Balanced acid and very fine tannins provide just a touch of youthful grip in the long, lingering aftertaste.
Classic old world and new world winemaking techniques were utilized with fermentation in open and closed tanks. Lots were individually fermented to add unique characteristics to the blend. The wine is then aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.
Blend: 43% Zinfandel, 22% Syrah, 13% Carignane, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah

The 2013 vintage was another great year! The growing season this year was a winemaker's dream: warm to hot days were balanced by cool nights and smaller than average berry size. The final result was beautifully concentrated fruit with great natural balanced.
Classic Sonoma aromas and flavors of lemon and green apple with hints of toasted nut and subtle vanilla. Layered and complex with a rich, round mouthfeel and balanced, crisp acidity.
Big and bold with aromas and flavors of ripe plum, black berry with a kiss of spiced. Round, balanced tannins and a full full textured finish.
